I haven't been doing very much lately, just mainly relaxing. I start working on Monday, which should be interesting. At least, I'll be making some money to support my shopping addiction. Today I actually wrote down everything I want/need and boy oh boy the list is super long-- a full page to be exact. I hope I can afford everything and raise enough money to go to FIT Summer Live next year. This whole money situation of mine is actually really stressing me out!! I guess thats just the price you pay when your in a recession. Let's hope the economy recovers soon.

Geek Chic

Before I start I really do apologize for my lack of posts! It has been so busy here! The end of the school year is finally near and there has been sooo much work to do. I have totally been working my ass off. I can't wait until summer.

Below is an outfit inspired by my nerdiness lately.

Tank: American Eagle
Cardigan: H&M

Our school has been caraazyyyy. It's not a semester school and we have 11 subjects, so everything is always super rushed. I have 7 exams in the month of June. Now, in May, I have some super big projects; for communications technology I have to re-design an ad campaign. For art, re-design a painting. For civics, 2 essays, as well as the same for history. And to top that all off I just got assigned a math project, where we have to make a study guide for a chapter in the book and a board game. I am totally dying and so stressed. I really would like to do well this year and make the principal's honour role.

As well, there is this new music group. They are from Toronto, Canada and are amazing. Check them out. The group is Down with Webster and they will totally rock your socks off.

Never Forget

So, today as some of you know was Holocaust memorial day. I would like to dedicate this blog post to the 11 million people that died, including 6 million Jews. This day, April 21st, commemorates the day the Holocaust ended, when hundreds of thousands of people were finally liberated from the concentration camps.

The Holocaust survivors are so inspiring and always have such influential and meaningful stories to tell, touching so many people's hearts. Unfortunately, many of them are beginning to become old and dwindling. That's why we must never forget what happened and spread the history of our ancestors.

What is that Blairing Sound?

Before I begin this post, I apologize for my lack of posts in the past week, but I have been very busy.

So let's start with tonight's Gossip Girl. I don't know which was more of a disaster, the Passover Seder or the rehearsal dinner, however both contained crucial amounts of drama. And drama is no surprise on the Upper East Side. All I can say is move over Carrie Bradshaw because New York City has a new icon in tow and her name is Blair Waldorf.

Let's start with a mini biography of Blair Cornelia Waldorf. First off, she idolizes Audrey Hepburn, "Breakfast at Tiffanys" is her all-time favourite movie in the entire world. She is very traditional and upscale. She is presented as the "queen bee" at Constance Billard (the Manhattan private school), however her insecurity is sometimes brought out when faced with frenemy, Serena Van Der Woodsen. She strives for control and loves to be the center of attention, which can sometimes lead to her bitchy behaviour. Blair's dream is to go to Yale. She also has a sprouting romance with two males in the series, Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald. Blair Waldorf is also known for her fantastic style. Her style is very classic, preppy and polished. She is always very well put together and her outfits are always and I mean always absolutely perfect. What I noticed also, is that Blair almost never wears pants, but almost always skirts and dresses. Her sense of colour is very inspiring and she always knows how to dress up those hideous Constance uniforms and make them look like they have just came out from the runway. Blair's signature item however is... the headband! In almost every episode, Blair is sporting a new headband.

Blair and Nate (Season 2, Episode 21)
(I love Blair's outfit here!)

Blair's large bow and flower headband have really caught my eye. Headbands are very in right now and I am almost sure Blair Waldorf has something to do with it. Props to Blair Waldorf (or Eric Daman- "Gossip Girl"'s stylist) for starting a new trend.

The headband I want (from Urban Outfitters), inspired by Blair

And before I go, here is an inspirational photo I found by one of my
favourite photographers, Tim Walker.

A new outfit post will be soon, hopefully within the next week!

You know you love me,
XOXO

Do the Hoedown Throwdown Y'all

Today, curious at how the kid's comedy ended, I went and saw the Hannah Montana movie. I must say, it was very cute. Miley Cyrus actually did a great job as she wrapped up the television show that millions of kids loved. I have actually gained a bit more respect for her after seeing the movie. Her vocals were quite good also. "The Climb" and "Butterfly Fly Away" are great songs from the movie. Her acting was pretty good and the romance between her and Lucas Till was just adorable. Kudos to Miley for a fantastic performance.

All this country hoedown throw down got me inspired to make an outfit. So yes, this outfit is inspired by the Hannah Montana movie :).

Skirt: Urban Outfitters
Cardigan: H&M
Boots: Harley Davidson
Bow: Claires
Bracelet 1: Wonderland
Bracelet 2: Unknown
Ring 1: RAGE (Aruba)
Ring 2: Craft Show

On a lighter note, I got some new accessories today, as well. My sister went to the Sassy Bead Co. with my Mom today and made me a wonderful necklace. Also, my friend came home today from Florida and brought me back this elegant silver necklace and some bracelets. Then,  I finished off my accessory hunt with purchasing these rather new and simple bows for my hair.

Now I have to finish the first part of my art final summative task, which is basically a huge project at the end of the year instead of an exam. We are required to pick any painting past 1900 and repaint it, but using our own colour scheme and 3 different painting techniques, as well as to create an illustrated guide (info and history on the painting) and an oral proposal. I have chosen Red Room by Henri Matisse. I actually am pretty excited to do this project.

A New Beginning

So I was thinking today of what to do for my first post on this blog. I have realized that because none of you know much about me and I don't want some creepy internet psycho to come stalking me, to copy a friend of mine's note from facebook titled "Twelve Random Things". I'm sure you can guess what this is; twelve random facts about, yours truly, me :).

1) I love fashion. Fashion is my passion (I made a rhyme). Not very random but it is my number one fact.
2) I am addicted to Burt's Bees lip balm. It is my anti-drug. Not  kidding, it is always beside me.
3) Skins is my absolute favourite TV show in the world. I never miss an episode. Even though I don't live in the UK, I'm always absolutely sure to catch it as soon as it get posted.
4) I have a strong phobia of needles. I hate them with a firing passion. I always end up crying and screaming when I need to get one and the site is not pretty.
5) My dream is to go to Ryerson University, take either fashion communications or journalism and live in the city of Toronto when I graduate high school.
6) Getting my nails done (manicure and pedicure) is my guilty pleasure. I like to get them done as often as possible.
7) Rings are my favourite accessory. They can make the simplest of outfits look bold or just give an outfit a whole new twist to it.
8) I have the most sensitive skin ever. What makes it worse is I sometimes break out a lot, so when I try to use the pimple cream on a soft spot on my skin, it just makes that spot super, super dry. You get the point, I'm sure :P.
9) I have always wanted to travel to Paris, New York (I've been there, but we didn't really get to shop, it was for school), Italy, Rome, Greece, London and Israel.
10) The Jonas Brothers and Luke Pasqualino are my husbands. No hate on them JoBros. Their music is wonderful <3.
11) I have an irrational fear of the doomsday theory. Ps. Whatever you do, do not google it! I did and strongly regret it.
12) My signature scent is Hippy Fizz by Moschino (Cheap and Chic), but sometimes I wear Love by Harajuku Lovers or Kimmora Lee Simmons by Baby Phat.
